Consumer engagement resources

  • ATI ATOD Consumer Engagement Service Development Plan (Oct 2011 - June 2012). This document provides an outline of the goals of Advocacy Tasmania's ATOD Consumer Engagement Project and indicates some of the services to be provided to Tasmanian ATOD organisations.   • Guide to Tasmanian ATOD Consumer Engagement. ATI partnered with DHHS Alcohol and Drug Service to develop this strategic framework to guide the work of ATOD service providers. Available in PDF (1.6 MB), and in Microsoft® Word .doc format (1.1 MB).
  • Create your own charter. ATI has prepared a comprehensive list of consumer rights and responsibilities drawn from a wide range of existing charters that cover different sectors and different jurisdictions. Download the list and choose the rights and responsibilities that are appropriate and deliverable for your organisation/service. Available in PDF, and in Microsoft® Word .doc format.
  • Involving Consumers on Committees. Two valuable rresources:
  • Paying and reimbursing consumers, carers and community members to participate (2008). Available as PDF for download from the Health Issues Centre website.
  • APSU's Straight from the Source: a practical guide to consumer participation in the Victorian drug and alcohol sector (2010). Features lots of practical advice and some examples of key documents used by Victorian ATOD groups. Available as PDF (2.1 MB) for download from the APSU website.
  • Consumer Participation Standards. For a glance at the kinds of standards used in other jurisdictions and likely to be (eventually) adopted nationally. The recommended suite of consumer, carer and community participation standards from Victorian Public Health Services (adapted from Health Issues Centre, 2009).
