Programs for people using ATOD services

ATOD advocacy
This service commenced in May 2010
This service is for people experiencing problems with their ATOD use, as well as their relatives and carers. Advocates can assist people to exercise their rights and responsibilities in receiving appropriate services.
We support people to exercise their rights to:
- fundamental health and well being, including specific alcohol, tobacco and other drug services
- be safe from harm including abuse, and neglect
- shelter
- freedom and liberty
We focus on resolving concerns related to ATOD services, including those services associated with withdrawal issues and other drug related harm issues.
Priority is given to issues which most affect quality of life.
ATOD Consumer and Carer Participation Programs
Service planning is currently underway
Advocacy Tasmania is establishing consumer participation programs for ATOD clients with the goal of having active feedback to assist in the systemic improvement of services as well as addressing individual needs. Over time this is expected to lead to more active involvement of consumers and carers in the delivery of ATOD services.
Work is commencing in 2010 on this initiative and regular updates on progress will be provided on the website.
Documents related to the following aspects of this initiative are available here:
- draft Project Plan (PDF or MS Word format)
- Terms of Reference for the Reference Group (PDF or MS Word format)
- general Introductory Information (PDF or MS Word format).
The coordinator and policy officer have been appointed and commenced at the end of January. They can be contacted at Advocacy Tasmania on 62242240.
